Bird Song
  A melody cannot wake me
If it comes from the breast of a bird
  Something with more simplicity
  Is my favorite morning word
Winter dawn of orange and red
Won’t bring me from star-sung slumber
Though airbrushed with paints of fire
I don’t wake for your sunrise splendor
Yet when a whisper floats to me
  On something sweeter than air
  Smokey locks and Rosewood eyes
Speak words that are beyond fair
  Though the darkness was long
Your voice wakes me with its own
  Bird’s Song
