The Harsh Truth MAG
I blankly gaze out the open window
from the back seat of this car.
The world is passing by
Like I’m leaving
it behind.
All of the sparkling street lights
shine against the dark sky,
fresh air brushes past my face,
goosebumps appear on my legs,
the car fills
with music and smoke
I sit there
forgetting the early events
of the night or how I ended up here.
We drive for what feels like forever
I think about everything all at once
loneliness consumes me
suffocating feelings overwhelm me
I want them to disappear
but instead I close my eyes in defeat
And then someone taps my shoulder.
He asks if I’m okay
but the truth is:
I never really am.
