I Am From
I am from an old box of photos from under the tv stand,
from the people that come and go,
from the carpet under my toes.
I am from the smell lingering about my nose,
from all the sadness and pain,
from the happy moments that fill my life.
I am from all the footsteps creaking on the floor boards,
from the way my heart fills with joy,
from all the nice notes and sayings.
I am from a little town full of ordinary people,
from a place where I don’t belong,
from all the comments that make me want to run.
