I am a soldier
I fight for you and the people around you
I run in when you run out
I know what a soldier feels
When my best friend dies
When the sun shines bright red
When I look at my hands and there covered in blood

When the medic shakes his head
And my buddy dies in my arms
And I get up and I run
And I fight till my gun runs dry
When my gun runs dry I will use my knife
When that blade gets dull I will use my hands

Until I feel the sting from the bullets tearing through me
When I fall I will be known as a hero
If I make it home before I die I will sleep in peace
When my wounds are seen that will be proof that I fought
And I will say that I was a soldier
And then I will fight till I give my last breath
I am a soldier
You think losing your friends would the worst part about it
No the worst part was that I am still alive
I always knew that friendship had an opposite
But I did not think it was war
I was a soldier
