Khufu fantasized a towering tomb for himself.
20,000 eager Egyptians, determined to please their pharoah,
made his dream a reality and laid the first blocks with the help of precise measurements.

Using only the shiniest stars: the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper
align the Great Pyramid of Giza in a north-south direction.
This allowed the builders to build a precise pyramid.

Workers hauled 2.3 million stones of lush limestone and grey granite from a nearby quarry.
Blistered, rugged, and tough hands struggled pulling sleds by a short, tight, and ragged rope.
Block by block, they constructed the pyramid using a steady staircase that hugged the pyramid.

One piece was left to be put on the Great Pyramid of Giza: the capstone.
Made of glistening gold to show the wealth of the pharaoh; the pyramid was completed.
Twenty years and 20,000 workers later, the Great Pyramid of Giza stands on top of the world.
