"Undefined"
Varying shapes and colors/ some unassuming, others an obvious sight to the blind eye.
(A splash of white powder across the bathroom tile; a rainbow of capisules strewn across the dining room table)
Are they meant for the relief of pain or maybe for the relief of mind and soul…
(You say the physical pain inflicted by age is near to unbearable, yet your eyes speak of different tales)
Does pain really have a name, something that can be defined by the individual?
(Your words go round and round as you pull explanations out of the air, your words not as sound as you once thought)
Or not at all, maybe that can only be determined by a medical advisor, but can an individual really be biased or maybe less than honest in the sense of hurt?
(Your 'hurt' hides a much more sinister cause, something that itches worry into my mind)

(Do you know what physical pain is? Or do you only see the mental points)
Should the usage of drugs truly be the cure to all things, not just out worldly ailments?
Is it not wrong to allow people without problems to so blatantly drown themselves in a current that is practically impossible to escape, one in which destroys them and family alike?
It is such an insidious, hideous cycle, one that has a way out, but is not acknowledged.
A way out that can save the hurt and ache for another time.
Sustain, it is as simple as the word.
Sustain from the numbness granted by a doctors script, sustain from the memories or physical problems that may be causing such an action.
Sustain from the substitute of good feeling.
