Down in the valley was a ledge,
Lined with bloodshed,
The ancient walls holding stories of those,
Those who were abandoned,
Ignored iridescent illusions.

Down in the valley was a ledge,
Where only a few went,
And never returned.
People said there was a cure for them,
A cure that sent them to a better place,
A place where we didn’t exist.

Down in the valley was a ledge,
The lost and forgotten voices,
Like tidal waves kissing the shore,
Voices that faded,
Until it was too late.

Down in the valley was a ledge,
Where no one dared to go,
Unless they were told,
Told that they were sick,
Unwanted and diseased.
But they were never really sick.

Down in the valley was a ledge,
Leading to eternal darkness,
Looking into their eyes,
As dark as space,
Emotionless and chaotic.

Down in the valley was a ledge,
A ledge that would soon be filled,
Filled with those who were lost,
Lost from society,
Their bodies permanent,
But their souls risen.

Down in the valley was a ledge,
Feet leaving the earth,
Bodies swiftly falling into the abyss,
Awaiting the cure,
The cure to divergency.
