Different
I knew what was coming
I could feel it
The corset of nervousness around my lungs
Bound by threads of fear and regret
Different, different.
Up we went on the rollercoaster of temptation
The one that left me scarred, broken;
Higher and higher we climbed
Easier and easier things became.
Hope's nimble fingers loosened the laces in my chest.
Different. Different.
I was right. I was wrong.
A world of worry far beneath my feet;
But once again,
Gravity proved itself stronger than ignorance.
Down we fell toward my greatest fears,
Greeted by a feeling all too familiar.
I knew, but I didn't want to.
Our first ride on the rollercoaster caused a pain,
A pain only to fall short from that of our second ride.
Before, it was your fault.
Now, the fault is all mine.
