Forever and ever
They say death lasts forever
But forever is a word that I will never say
For you’re not dead; you didn’t die
I will not say goodbye
You are the golden sky of sunrise
Every droplet of morning dew
The birds sing a song for you
The trees stand in proclamation
A million million leaves will fall all in mourn of you
You are the whisper of the wind and the howl of the storm
And when rain falls and thunder cracks the sky I know it’s you
Mourning all the memories never to be made
Mourning all the memories that will surely one day fade
You are the reflection in the mirror
Peering through eyes that radiate your presence
All the memories that we shared are forever etched upon my heart
Every cloud that slowly drifts on by whispers an everlasting bye.
But I will never say goodbye
For you reside within me
You’re not dead you didn’t die
You will always remain alive.

I wrote this after my mother died. I still can't say goodbye.
