Genocide of the Trees
Have you not heard about the trees?
Tiptoe gently through the weeds
And you will hear them
Whispering softly in the breeze
Quiet now! Will you hear their pleas?
For they have been abandoned
They have been forsaken
And the birds and the bees beg you, “Please!”
The trees are bloodied and beaten
Will you not help them in their time of need?
There is a genocide
A genocide against the trees
I ran through the city streets
I stomped upon the pavement
And I shouted, “Have you not heard about the trees?”
Go tiptoe through the weeds
And you will see
The genocide of the trees
