The Waves
The Waves roll against
the front of my skull
reaching in desperation
for a grip against my brow
but they must fade
into deep waters
They merge into ocean
far from the shore
here in the dark
endless depths appear
but few are swept in waves
remaining the unknown
As they secede
they pull with them
the softer thoughts
and leave bits of darkness
to harden and create
a beach made of one grain
This grain builds into a wall
thickening against my bone
burning the darkness in my brow
as the soft thoughts
flow quietly away
to be the unknown
