Lingering Illusion
Who am I?
Gazing towards the river at the blurred reflection of a girl,
A girl beaten by her own insuperable struggles.
Her gnarled hair falling behind sagged shoulders.
Her clothes torn, her hands soiled with soot.
Who am I anymore?
Doubtful of the truth behind her new image, she stuck out her finger,
The illusion dwelling in the dark waters doing the same.
Then their paths cross as their fingers touch.
In an instant She's gone, replaced only by the ripples that waved the imposter away.
