The Edge
I climb over the pointed boulders.
I wobble on the tiny pebbles.
My foot catches.
I fall.
My hands are filthy,
My knees are bloody.
I am getting hazy.
I stumble to the edge.
I look down at the raging waters.
I promised myself
That I will not look back.
I jump.
I fall.
I hit the cold water.
Suddenly I remember.
My friends.
My family.
Everyone and everything.
Even her.
I want to breathe.
I push for air.
But something is holding me back.
Her face fills my head.
It’s her fault!
I know now.
I was wrong.
I shouldn’t have jumped.
The world starts to fade.
I hit the sandy bottom.
It’s too late.
My eyelids get heavy.
The last thing I see
Is her smirk.
Those freckles.
Those green eyes.
The red hair.
I breathe my final breath.
