The Atonement MAG
Yesterday, a whale lay belly up
in waveless waters
surrounded by birds that came
to watch the world end.
Covered in tar and chip bags
the birds sat back
and quacked stories of such unfortunate doom.
Slowly, the whale turned right side up
and drifted to the bottom of the sea.
He didn’t want to watch us as we died.
