The Curse
The year of 1703
Peace had broken
And war was upon us
In peaceful little Philadelphia
It was like the plague
Or the Spanish flu
It killed many
None could escape
Eyes turned yellow
Some taken with delirium
Most threw up, red blood and black pestilence
Overcome with fever
War was upon us
We couldn’t shoot it
We couldn’t fight it
It wouldn’t let us run away
It wasn’t a being
But it used us as a host
A curse was on us
It had descended
The claws gripped us tightly
Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters
It spread like wildfire
It killed us off and left the rest to bury the dead
The curse
Our war
Its name spread fear
It was called
Yellow Fever
