Goodbye
Goodbye beautiful mind
Which pondered the depth of the sea
And the galaxies beside me.
Goodbye sister
Who is both friend and foe
But whom is close to my heart.
Goodbye school
With great people and scary teachers.
Goodbye soccer
Where my sweat and tears
Poured onto the glistening grass.
Goodbye friends
Who laughed and giggled by my side.
Goodbye basketball
Whose soft leather stroked my skin
And swooshed through the broken net.
Goodbye mother
Who sat with me through both sun and storm.
Goodbye dreams of one day graduating college
And becoming a master of medicine and health.
Goodbye worry free days
Where all I had to stress about
Was friends and sports and school.
Goodbye body
Which was strong and lean
But now is crumpled and torn
Goodbye brother
Who is strong and small and very dear.
Goodbye life that used to be
Full of hope, dreams, and promises
For I am broken beyond repair
Never to be whole again.
