On the Future
Yes,
life is a map
and we must treat it as such
we may look at where to go next
but if we refuse
to look at where we are now
then we are
incredibly lost.
The principle
of looking forward
is the potential
for the future to be better
than the present.
But if it will always be better,
and better, and better, and better,
then we can never
live our best days.
For today
was once the future you dreamt
but as your feet stand
in the promised land
you still ask
what has yet
to come.
