Evergreen
When you leave me,
Summer is escaping the upcoming fall.
The cold spot in my heart is growing,
As is the temperature, while you are gone.
The leaves will fall while you are away,
Making the trees bare and lonely.
I relate, as this is how I am,
Without you by my side.
Growing up I always had you,
Through our fights and all.
But now you are lost to me,
Away from my constant beck and call.
I know exactly where you are,
And you know where I am,
But it is not the same.
With you gone,
My life is never the same.
You are my mentor,
That I prefer not to have over facetime.
You are my best friend,
That I hate is only my pin pale.
I wish I could go into your room with my problems.
But now your room is empty,
With only some leftover items sitting on your dusty shelf.
I know you will be back when summer returns,
Just like leaves return to the trees.
But I don't want you to ever leave,
I want you to be an evergreen.
