Mind Games
“Don’t do it Caleb!” my mind was twisting.
“It will give me an edge,” the devil shrieked.
Devils advocate replies, “Stay humble and honest.”
Hatred follows, “ DO IT!”
A pause.
A reminder of what my parents taught me.
The morals of what’s wrong and what is right.
“You’re doing the right thing.”
The game begins. National Anthem has been sung. It’s game time.
Strap it up and wait for the whistle.
Puck drops…
I am not a cheater.
