Animal Shelter
He was seconds away from landing a hand on me
“Pick me, pick me!”
He cried and sobed
They are going to kill him
Abandoned and left alone he was lonely
He lays in filth and wants someone to take him home
The door opens.
May this be a new owner?
Closer. Closer. Closer
As his eyes light up with joy
His cage opens and he cries out crying
He is free.
Walking to the car as the air hits his face.
The air has never smelt better and he has never been cleaner.
He is home, a place never known to him.
