The Road
They all run down the road so fast.
They push and shove against you.
Until everyone is too far up the road.
Now with weighted shoulders,
We all yearn for the youth we once had.
Sometimes if we squint closely,
we find a shred of innocence in our eyes.
We may touch our fingers together,
and vaguely sense the stickiness from long ago.
But sometimes,
I look down the road.
And there is nothing there.
