(This is my entry for the contest for poems based on William Carlos Williams' Red Wheelbarrow poem).
Much is written about the various conflicts going on presently in the Middle East and around the world. These are extremely complex conflicts, but the destruction and tragedy people are facing is simple and obvious. However, people continue to carry on their day to day lives in places like Syria, Iraq, and Yemen; in spite of everything, families living in these places try their best to give their children a decent future, or any future at all. There is hope in the essentially good qualities of human beings, which will hopefully overcome tragic situations created by world leaders, politics, and repression by various state and non-state actors. There is hope in the essentially moral and creative qualities most people possess.
