Cutting
Done with consent
mind takes control
and the pressure of the world
tranfers to the sharp edge in your pale fingers
and you press down once for the names they would call you
and again for never wiping up your tears
as they stick and streak across your soft face
because tears are a reminder
that you are still able to endure
then you press harder for the way your family never cared
even though you left notes taped to the refrigerator
then it spills over and stains your skin
and the relief of pain comes quick
and lasts for a moment
so you try once more
and you cry because you know this wont change a thing
and its sure to happen again tomorrow
