My Sweet Child
"What do you see," my mother asked me
I had looked at her confused,
we were staring at a flower,
a bright red rose to be exact
I did not understand her question then,
but
I do now
She had told me, "I see a life,
so innocent,
so sweet,
a new life born through the rain of storms,
and the tears of pain,
yet,
through all the struggle,
the fight for life,
was worth the cost,
was worth the risk,
was worth the pain,
and struggle,
because now,
here stands a new life"
