Bing.
Bing
Knees bent, get down to meet
the ball, I aim my bat and it goes forward
the ball inches closer.
“Strike!” The umpire shouts.
knees bent get down
to meet the ball.
The pitcher hurls the ball
toward me.
Bing
I hit the ball.
I pump my arms forward,
as my gut ties in a knot.
I wonder to stop at first and be safe,
or go for it.
My coach waves his arm in a motion for me to go.
I keep pumping my arms.
I feel a surge of adrenaline rush through me,
I sprint faster than I ever could.
As I round third,
I see a ball that's thrown in.
I think to myself,
You can’t get out, you’ve gone this far.
Another surge of adrenaline surges through me,
I see the catcher catch the ball.
I slide into the catcher's glove,
in the dust I see a white ball
slowly roll out of his glove.
I throw myself into the cheers of my team.
