Ode to the Bahamas
Crystal water crashing below
as we descend to our second home-
Looking down, the ocean expands,
for miles and miles, I am only a speck.
Tranquil yet playful, the waves whisper hello,
tiny creatures waiting below-
The color of a happy summers day
with clear skies and an absence of gray
Smiling children run to the car
jumping up and down- our hearts rejoice
These sweet kids search for love;
dark skin and bright smiles,
anything they ask, I can't say no
Cool breezes rustle the palms,
reminding us we are not in control-
God spoke us into existence
so here we are, living a life of serving,
showing the people of this world God’s love

I go on a mission trip to the Bahamas every year and this island and its people have a special place in my heart.
