Appointments
A peek at the voices that bruised the bar room,
surrounded by a sea of familiar faces
Dimmed lights surrounding me
With a warm glow like autumn
The smell of alcohol burned my nostrils
I gave not into temptation and quietly waited,
for tonight I knew he would materialize
He lurked in every corner and shadow
Nowhere and everywhere
As vast as the Sahara
Engulfing as an ocean
He could swallow you in,
to never spit you out
Then suddenly he was there
He made his presence known
As some cowered in fright,
feeling their last quaking beat of the heart
Others scuttled in fear,
as they heard the rattle and screams of war
For they had never seen him,
so close and so near
Not every man or woman ran
For those who had lived were meeting an old friend
Everyone expects Death,
to not come for him
For he can make the whole world crack
As if god himself took his mighty hands
Bending the sky
To form a ring of life
Going hand in hand with Death
Oh what a show
The tables upturned
The bar room in disarray
I knew Death would come
For it was me who invited him today
