October Day
I stare out the window as the October sky lights up with vibrant colors—orange, pink, yellow.
As I step outside, the crisp autumn breeze blows my dirty blond hair, and
the wind brushes against my cheeks as I take a step further.
Leaves struggle to stay on the trees,
leaf after leaf blowing in the gusty autumn winds,
swirling until they reach the ground.
Hearing the birds chirping tunes is like music to my ears.
Looking farther beyond I spy a squirrel jumping from tree to tree,
so fast and efficiently, the tree branches don’t move.
I squint my eyes and in the distance spy a doe.
Her eyes widen for a split second, then she runs off quickly.
Tailing her, I see her young, attempting to keep up with her momma.
I gaze into the October skies, as the sun begins to set for the day.
As I step towards my home, the wind dies down, no longer blowing my hair.
I hear the continuous noise of leaves quietly rustling on the ground,
from the animals running across the path.
The leaves swirl around my feet as I step into my back yard,
as I breath in the fresh crisp air one last time to conclude my day.
