Fun Being Dumb
It’s hard to be foolish,
to be mindless and naive,
when everything you thought you knew
was different than you perceived,
See you thought you knew how you felt,
but in fact, you didn't know at all,
you thought you’d walk away from it
but suddenly, back you crawl,
You put a river between you all
but suddenly you're in a boat,
and now you are sinking by the minute,
Why are you trying to stay afloat?
You knew you hated him,
with fire and ashes in your eyes,
So why do you wish to see him
Why are you still hurting inside?
Do you enjoy being crushed?
hurt, defeated, and mistreated,
you know how this game works.
Why would you ever want to repeat it?
He calls you names, he lies about you,
these things keep you up at night,
But when someone asks you about him
You just tell them “He’s alright,”
It’s starting not to matter now,
your scars are becoming less deep,
You are starting to forget about him,
You are starting to get more sleep,
No longer do you cry,
You've erased him from your mind,
You’ve made new friends and new faces,
The stars have realigned,
However, late one night you think about him,
and your body and brain fall numb,
you got excited to be hurt again,
Isn't it fun being dumb?
