I was never meant for skyscrapers,
And city lights.
The crowds of people,
And lack of kindness they shared
Lost me in confusion.

My place was with the trees
That stood tall as skyscrapers,
But never scraped the sky
In man-made mechanics,
And construction.

The soft crunches of the wildlife
Sidling through their homes
Instead of
The loud bustle of people,
That littered, polluted, and crowded
Their own.

There being nothing in the world,
That I would trade,
The sounds of crickets
And owls in the night,
For the rush of traffic,
And honking of horns.
The people stumbling from bars
In the early hours
Too drunk,
To help even themselves.

My place was with the tall trees
Basking in the moonlight.
Reflecting from ponds,
And creeks.
The water rushing behind the sound
Of rustling leaves.

The circle of life,
And its natural flow
Instead of
The man-made structure,
And its self-pollution.
