I'm Not Your Friend
I've always been told I believe in people
too much.
Friend
is a term
with many meanings
and yet no meaning at all.
I have lots of
friends.
I have a friend
who is the electron to my proton.
I have a friend
who is my second brain.
I have a friend
who is literally family.
I have friends
who can always back me up.
But I know
six people
who are my
friends
but I am not their
friend.
These are the
only
friendships I am not grateful for.

High school girls can be mean, but the worst part is that we believe what they tell us. These are the girls who are "perfect" in every way on the outside, but on the inside they are full of broken glass. Every teacher seems to be oblivious to the fact that the bullies who do the most damage are the ones no one expected. Nothing hurts more than being told by the people you trusted that you're not their friend.
