Flips for Father
I’m a whispering whale,
hoping my story
will be heard.
Fathers are friends and important
and teach life lessons.
I flip my tail, to wave hello.
My father did what he told us to do. He swam to south.
But when he did not return,
mother and siblings went searching.
Blood seeped far and wide.
Father was attacked by an
Orca.
Mother gives father CPR, but it's too late.
Mother tells us go home—she will return.
We are scared to leave mother.
We can’t afford to lose her too.
But we do as we are told head back,
patiently waiting.
Father; someone who is a friend and role model.
My life will not go back to normal.
My family supports each other,
to make it through the loss.
Families grow closer in tragedies,
even a whale family like mine.
I’m a whispering whale,
hoping my story will be heard.
Fathers are friends and important
and teach life lessons.
Father I miss you.
I flip my tail, to wave one last goodbye.
