My Disastrous Discovery
Unburdened and cheerful,
I strode into chapel
The sun was out shining,
And the curtains drawn back.
Unhesitating, I walked to my seat,
Hearing loud murmurs
And echoes of sobs as dreadful
Thoughts flooded my mind.
Confused and curious,
I sat alone, questioning
What and why—but not once
Did that dark thought cross my mind.
“Something really bad”
Was all he had said,
Then, hesitating and
Averting his gaze—
“Malcolm’s gone.”
