Quasimodo
The night of prom—
what an enchanting event!
Dancing with a pretty girl in a sparkling gown,
laughing at the teachers’ picks in music,
gazing into each other’s eyes…
But then, just before the clock struck midnight,
my spell of innocence and naivete wore off.
Where did I go wrong?
Alas, as if someone had casted a curse on me,
I was suddenly punished with a zit!
Oh, the pain!
My face, embellished by that gargantuan of a pimple!
It stood out like a traffic light,
stopping everyone in their tracks,
as they stared at the obscene parasite
leeching onto me as Mother Gothel did to Rapunzel.
Oh, the horror!
“It doesn’t look too bad,”
you said, dismissively.
But were you the one whose face was disfigured,
transformed from Eric to Quasimodo?
Oh, the agony!
I was supposed to be her Prince Charming,
a handsome lad next to a gorgeous girl!
But now, the only role that fitted me in this cruel twist of fate
was the Beast, cursed to terrorize everyone around me.
Prom was supposed to be the one night
where my dreams came true -
I could finally escape the cruelty at home.
But here I was, locked up high in my tower.
