Slipping Love
Atop its rain-slick prec'pice love may slip,
though it has room to fall patience runs low.
Throughout your fall, the wind will drift you part;
if only you had packed a parachute.
There are those few that can survive it all,
with help from ledges to cushion their fall
sadly, it seems we have trouble with that.
Onward into the story I shall tell!
Hark, the light over there! Just out of arm's reach!
Go grab it my friend, go see the beauty!
As I reach to forget the past troubles
the didact grabs my hand and slaps my love,
and then slaps me to return the favor.
Every time we just end up crying,
helpless on the floor of punished whelps.
For what futile purpose were we punished?
The beats of a rhythmic heart will tell all;
the silence will conceal unrhythmic beats.
I have heard its cries, I must take my leave.
I can't learn to let her go, I love her.
She said our love was true and eternal,
Was I so gullible to believe it?
