The Squirrel
The big bushy tail
Swirling all around
Tiny nose sniffing
Cool, brisk summer air
Little pattering feet
On crunchy gravel
Dried leaves falling down
And sweeping round and round
That furry brown shape
Eyes bright and looking
All about, up, down, left, right
Forwards and backwards
Swift paws running on
Fences, climbing so high and
Giddily to gaze
At juicy peaches
Still on the bushes and plump
A delicate crouch
And the peaches are theirs
Tiny teeth nibbling at
The soft, white, fuzzy flesh
Paws on a belly
Full with peaches devoured
Juice dribbling down
Gnarled pits are all that
Remain of the fruits and the
Squirrel dashes off
