These Scary Lines
These Scary Lines
By: Grace Berry
You call me pretty
You call me so wonderful
You call me gorgeous
But you don’t see them
The tiny jagged red lines
That I hide so well
I just really wish
That maybe I could show you
The things that scare me
That make me do this
These horrible things I do
These tiny red lines
You ask if I’m okay
Like a good girl I say yes
But that is a lie
What if I showed you?
What if next time I say no?
Would you want to help?
You always promised
You told me that you would stay
But was that a lie?
Would you still tell me
All of those sweet caring words
Or would you just leave?
I’m scared to tell you
To say that I’m terrified
Of my hidden lines
