The star was almost
shining beneath the glassy
surface of the eyes
Up at the night sky
Just gazing as if to want
to be in their hands.
But just as the star
shone bright, the eye blinked and it
was lost from the night.
I stand where it was
lost long ago, a lost spark,
Ending an epoch
