Growing Farther Apart
I stare at the grey locker next to me,
And thought about what we used to be.
I hear the familiar footsteps. It’s him.
I suddenly have this desperate whim
To talk to him and hope he will see
That I still exist and standing right here.
Deep down I know he would do what I fear.
He treats me like I am the invisible air.
I tell myself that I should not even care,
Because the message he is sending is clear.
He and I are one hundred percent over,
No matter how hard I wish on a clover.
He looks in my direction for a moment.
Our eyes meet, but my heart fell, feeling distant.
The past is the past; I cannot go back. Never.
