Snake
It was summer when I saw you first.
Were you lifeless?
Those stone cold eyes were
Unrehearsed.
I took a step, heedless.
You used your instinct,
And I used mine.
I look like such a mess.
All at once you knocked me over,
Sharp as an arrow and bow.
My vision blurred, it never cured.
The mud I can’t get off my skirt reminds me, though.
I still go back
To where the grass grows knee high.
The rose garden pulls me in: an amnesiac?
I’d rather be bit than never smell the roses.
After all, you’re the Nice Guy.
