At the door

Leave whatever you have to say

At the door before you walk in.

I will not be listening to any words today,

My willpower is starting to wear thin.

But if you were to scream and scratch

At the walls that I've built up

I’m sure the walls would quickly crack

And with water, my ears would fill up.

I cannot hear your muffled words

From underneath the sea.

They sound just like the wind above

And the air that calls for me.

So now that you’ve barged in through my door,

And broken all my walls away,

And turned my room into the ocean floor,

What is it that you came to say?

You say “I love you, I’m here, you're ok”

And my frozen heart begins to melt.

You say these words every single day

But this warmth I swear I’ve never felt.

I'm still very new to poetry but I am very proud of this one.
