Betrayal
betrayal is a beautiful thing
it hurts like there’s no tomorrow
it tears trust apart
everyone always
gives idiotic excuses for it
or believes the fairy tale that
i’m sorry makes everything
suddenly okay
and sometimes
it comes so unexpectedly
it causes you to fall
and the air to disappear
from your lungs
betrayal has become a physical thing
in the eyes of the world
uncontrollable
inevitable
constant
something that happens to someone
not the act of
what someone did
not the act of breaking trust
something like a drug
intoxicating
like a powerful substance
that changes who you are
but it’s nothing more than
something you do
sometimes driven from fear
boredom
annoyance
need
or anything really
betrayal is beautifully horrible
