Spitting Image
History repeats itself
I should have f*cking known
History books on the shelf
warned me how the story goes
You said I look just like Michael did
when he was young as I am now
His anger and his pride are on my bid;
my pride ever urging me to take a bow
Is it curse or is it blessing
to be such an image of your brother?
Is it calm or is it stressing
to know the troubles that he's known?
Those who judge will too be judged
I should have f*cking known
My record now has since been smudged
The things I hated him for, on my face are shown
You said I act just like Michael did
When his life was closer to home
I hated his habits when I was a kid
but I do the same things now to feel less alone
Is it curse or is it blessing
to be such an image of your brother?
Is it calm or is it stressing
to know the troubles that he's known?
What goes around comes around
I should have f*cking known
The reasons for his actions I have found
because they're dripping from my bones
I've slipped into his footsteps
and did what I swore I'd never do
but every day I do sets and reps
with the same weights that he used
Is it curse or is it blessing
to be a spitting image of my own?
Is it calm or is it stressing
to see the same things he now knows?
Would I rather be ignorant and free
or see the man that I'm coming to be?

I thought it would be funny to write this to the tune of the hymn we were singing in church when I started writing this. I still think it is, to be honest. It's Not my usual speed, but pretty good nonetheless.
