paper doll
mould me like pottery
shape me like clay
i am yours if you ask
i promise i’ll stay
hold me and cradle me
one day i’ll break
i am pliant and perfect
please ask me to change
please ask me to change
i’m just a paper doll tied to a string
i have no identity,
no path to pave
i’m just so tired of wearing these masks
i’ll put one foot forwards
but you’ll push me back
but you’ll push me back
chip away bits of me
tell me it's fine
replace them with plastic
hold me while i cry
cut me and fragment me
pluck out my eyes
ask me to draw
before the blood dries
before the blood dries
i’m just a paper doll tied to a string
i have no identity,
no path to pave
i’m just so tired of wearing these masks
i’ll put one foot forwards
but you’ll push me back
but you’ll push me back
