What I Thought
Appear at your door, dirty, ragged, poor
Can I come in, you can say that you win
House smells the same, smells like a hint of shame
You were right, just like tonight
I am what I used to be
A casualty with no goals
I thought I could, I thought I would
But temptation did its goal
Making me feel like I should be in a hole
Standing outside in the rain
Temptation causing all the pain
This time I thought for sure, but
I barely made it out the door
Dream of a good life, dream of bright lights
(But dreams are only dream)
I am what I used to be
A casualty in the works
I thought I could, I thought I would
But temptation did its goal
Making me feel like I should be in a hole
