"I breathe; I live. The only difference is, to whom my heart I choose to give" -Nicole B

I'm gona say my last goodbye
But I know I'm gona cry
'Cause I can't see you no more
My heart broke 'cause I knew
Military men brought bad news
When they came and
Knocked on the door

Before I knew it I hit the floor
Bowed my head and prayed to the Lord
To bring you back to me
The military men stood a side
While they watched me slowly die
'Cause without you I couldn't breathe

Our daugter came to the living room
And asked me if daddy was
Comming back soon
What was I supposed to say
She held my hand and hugged me tight
So I told the truth, I couldn't lie
I couldn't stop the tears
Rolling down her face

I said I want to know how it happened
As the tissue to my cheek dampened
The military men sat me down and sighed
'Cause they were there when I lost the love of my life

He was a military man
He was a little girl's dad
He was a son and a husband
Everyone who knew him, loved him
He was a high school teacher
His best friend was the local preacher
His biggest fear was dying alone
Some where away from home

They said
Your husband took a bullet to the chest
Trying to save a friend
He died a hero
Then he dropped his head to the ground
And no one made a sound
They said
There was something he
Wanted you to know

He choked a few words while he was dying
It was hard to understand 'cause he was crying
He said
"Tell my daughter and my wife That they are my whole life
As long as they're alive and fine
I will die a thousand times
But I'll always be at there side
Tell them I love them"
And there he died

He was a military man
He was a little girl's dad
He was a son and a husband
Everyone who knew him, loved him
He was a high school teacher
His best friend was the local preacher
His biggest fear was dying alone
Some where away from home

It hurts when
You hear that trumpet
And the guns ring that last shot
And you realize that you really loved him
And that the love of your life was lost
And it's sad
But he was a military man
Then you're handed that folded up flag

You feel like your whole life will fall apart
You can't live with only half a heart
You turn to drinking to cure your wound
While you cry in the pouring rain
Over a military mans' tomb
And you tell him
You'll be with him soon

She was the wife of a military man
A husband and daughter was all she ever had
So when he had gone
She found it too hard to move on
She took the liquior and drank it all
Every few steps she would trip and fall
She made it to the cemetery
Where the military man was Burried
And lied down next to her only love
And she never woke up

I was listening to the radio over memorial weekend and it just hit me. I had to write my own tragic love story.
