Night's Careful Watchmen
There are owls out there,
Out there in the woods.
With their big, bulging eyes
And their feathery hoods.
By night, they hunt.
By day, they sleep.
Softly perched on a branch,
Without making a peep.
With a hoo hoo they announce
They are venturing out.
Free from their recluse
When the sun is about.
One hears the cries
Of the owls at night.
When eyelids have just closed.
And there's not a single light bright.
Then, in the morning,
All fears fall away.
But only until
The end of next day.
