Dancing Along
It’s been a year and yet I find
At night your face still haunts my mind
Your voice a song that will not die
I dance along, although I try
To break away, to let you go
Your eyes are burning through my soul
I cannot see beyond today
For fear that memory fades away
Wanting you but holding him
Is it unfair? Is it a sin?
I’m so alone, can you not see?
I need someone to feel I’m free
And yet the shackles twist my wrists
You cannot see them in the light
I pretend he’s you when we kiss
Picture your face and close my eyes
But imagination takes it toll
He knows I love you, can’t let go
I know I hurt him when he finds
Me softly crying behind the blinds
I shut him out, but pull him in
Because without him I might do
Exactly what you told me not to
