Forgive Me
There’s a teenage girl who sits all alone
Her mom is in jail so she’s been left at this home
Strangers surround her and tell her to come inside
She needs the strength to take at least one more stride
So tonight, she’ll go into her bedroom and cry:
Chorus:
Please forgive me
I can’t do this anymore
It seems as if you shut every open door
I’m of no service here
Bring me to you
I no longer know what to do
There’s a boy on the street not much older than fifteen
Every day he wonders how he gets sucked into crap so easily
He feels he’s made enough mistakes to write his own book
The only things he receives are mean cruel looks
So tonight he’ll head home, stop at a bridge and cry:
Chorus:
Please forgive me
I can’t do this anymore
It seems as if you shut every open door
I’m of no service here
Bring me to you
I no longer know what to do
There’s a man on the road, his life has been nothing but junk
Everyone just supposes that he’s a homeless drunk
No one sees the pain in his old gray eyes
No one ever says hello, it’s always goodbyes
So tonight he’ll head down, down to the subway and cry:
Chorus:
Please forgive me
I can’t do this anymore
It seems as if you shut every open door
I’m of no service here
Bring me to you
I no longer know what to do
Thousands of people feel this way everyday
They need to know they have someone to lean on
Show them the light that gives you hope when things go wrong
Show them someone who can make them strong
So tonight or any other time, show them how to pray:
Chorus:
Please forgive me
I can’t live this way anymore
I need you to show me how to prop up the closed doors
I see that now I’ve sinned
Bring me to you
Lead me to know what to do
