The Artist
I am an empty canvas,
I am a blank page.
I am a book full of words,
That doesn’t know what to say.
I know you but you don’t know me,
And knowing this you’ll only see
A flicker of light, a shimmer, a spark,
All of me you’ll see in my art.
I am the voice inside your head,
The ringing in your ears.
I am the shadow in your step,
And the words behind your fears.
I know you but you don’t know me,
And knowing this you’ll only see
A flicker of light, a shimmer, a spark,
All of me you’ll see in my art.
I am the ifs and wonders,
I am the midnight dream.
I am the hand of the artist,
That makes everything as it seems.
I know your wishes, whims, and opinions,
I know you all through the human condition.
I know you but you don’t know me,
And knowing this you’ll only see
A flicker of light, a shimmer, a spark,
All of me you’ll see in my art,
Where nothing is as it seems.
